Your Questions, Answered

What are your specialties?

1

I specialize in therapy for parents of LGBTQIA+ children, therapy for parents of neurodivergent children, and therapy for people experiencing Alexithymia (high logic, low feeling). I can also provide evaluation and/or recommendation letters for gender-affirming surgery and care.

Do you participate with insurance companies?

2

No, I do not participate with insurance companies and I don’t provide super bills. Here are a few reasons why: participation with insurance means aligning with the demands of an industry that doesn’t always align with clinical therapy goals. It also means that privacy and confidentiality are at the whim of corporations. I deeply value and make concerted efforts to protect the privacy and confidentiality of my clients. Lastly, my approach is inherently NOT pathological. Insurance companies require pathological labels on human behaviors to deliver health benefits.

What is your rate for a single session?

3

The current rate for individual 50 minute therapy sessions is $250. The current rate for Therapy Intensives (2-3 hours) is $1000.000

What is a Therapy Intensive?

4

Therapy Intensives are designed to address a life issue without the interruption of a week between sessions. Extended therapy sessions provide an opportunity to receive expertise and clinical guidance in a way that allows for quicker depth and health benefits.

How does the process work?

5

Step One: Schedule an appointment with me on the connected calendar through Sessions Health and begin therapy. That’s it. During the first couple of sessions, I’ll conduct an assessment, process intake documents, and answer any questions you have. Sessions are weekly, so we’ll spend time making sure we’ve secured a time that works for us both.

What does the course of therapy look like?

6

Of course, the process is unique to everyone, but therapy with me happens weekly and starts with about 12-16 sessions. During the first 1-2 sessions we’ll go through an in-depth assessment of your needs. This also gives us a chance to get to know one another. Next, we’ll explore and identify goals and set up a treatment plan. I help you through every part of the process. If you’re ready to work, I’m here to help you.

We will practice life-enhancing skills from day one. A few sessions later, we’ll do collaborative exercises to harvest and clarify your current life values. In subsequent sessions, you’ll learn even more tools and techniques to begin living a fuller and richer life you long for. At the core of every session, we will make space for whatever is happening in your life. Depending on clinical needs therapy can last for 3 months to a year or more in some cases.

Do you offer sliding scale pricing?

7

I can and do offer reduced rates on a case by case basis. I am able to offer adjusted pricing for a rate and for a period of time that you and I agree upon.  We’ll have a conversation to find out what works well for both of us.
