Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults in Austin, TX

A welcoming and supportive environment, caring for the carers

Therapy for parents of neurodivergent children

Life in ATX moves at a rapid pace. People are constantly coming and going, and it’s easy to feel lost in the crowd. While you may feel like just another person among the many, you are a unique individual with your own struggles, challenges, joys, and triumphs. If you’re raising a child who is neurodivergent, you are on a journey filled with many twists and turns, complex stressors, and distinctly unique joys.

Supporting you as you advocate for your child is my priority, and I have had the privilege of working with parents just like you from across the Lone Star State. Our sessions will provide a supportive environment where you can process difficult feelings such as grief or confusion. Our work together will help you gain insight into your child’s experiences and build your confidence so you can connect with your child even more authentically than before. We’ll practice evidence-based tools and strategies so you can live your life on your own terms and not be held captive by negative thoughts.

I support parents who have a child who has been identified as neurodivergent.

Raising a child who is neurodivergent can be a life full of highs and lows, unique joys and complex stressors.

Between all the school meetings, the extra appointments, your work and household responsibilities, who is supporting you?

You can probably identify with most, if not all, of these feelings:

  • The love you have for your child is bigger than you ever thought possible. Your heart physically aches with the intensity of your love for them.

  • You want to confidently provide the best possible guidance to your child, but the nagging and exhausting reality is that you’re never sure if you’re doing the right thing, ever.

  • You want to see your child living their best life – healthy, strong, and thriving!

  • You want a break from worrying, and the ability to truly rest

  • You want to experience your child coming home from school feeling relaxed and not completely frazzled, and for multiple days in a row!

  • You want to feel understanding and acceptance of your child, but there are conflicting feelings or confusion getting in the way.

  • The idea of the kind of parent you wanted to be seems like a distant memory. Maybe you’re not proud of some of the things you’ve said or done.

  • You want to have a close and meaningful connection with your child.

WHAT WE’LL DO TOGETHER

Counseling for parents of neurodivergent
children can help you:

Advocate for your child

You are your child’s best advocate. But you need a safe and supportive place to process, too. I provide a therapeutic environment where you can be heard, and can practice new tools so that you can feel clarity and connection with your kids.

Say the hard things

I provide a richly supportive environment where parents can voice their true feelings, like grief or confusion, without judgement. We’ll work through these feeling together so that you can connect with your children more authentically than before.

Practice self-compassion

You are doing your best, and we see you. This is hard. Through support and counseling, we’ll develop tools that allow you to practice the skill of self-compassion. You’ll be able to better connect with yourself, and connect with children in a way that makes you proud.

Together, we'll get to know what's going on inside. We’ll find out what has you feeling off your game and experiencing high anxiety and/or distress.
